The HAA only collects two-dimensional objects such as certificates, documents, letters, written testimonies of all kinds, photos, postcards, pictures, plans, maps, newspapers, books, film and audio carriers, etc.

Temporary exhibitions are realized periodically.

The local museum is housed in a former farm building on Hirschenplatz. Special exhibits include the impressive old forge and military memorabilia. The journey from hemp and flax to printed matter is vividly illustrated. Historical plans and documents relating to the region are presented in the document room.

The living museum is located in a day laborer's house by a stream. The house has not been altered or renovated and shows in an authentic way how our ancestors lived a century or two ago.

The studio of the artist Adolf Holzmann (1890-1968) is located not far from the Thurbrücke bridge in a spacious garden.

Benken collection of curiosities

The collection of the veterinarian Götz becomes public

He was a personality at Cholfirst in the north of the Zurich wine country: Dr. Heinrich Götz, the veterinary surgeon from Benken (+ 1934). Not only because of his work, but above all because of his human nature and his social commitment. But Götz also had other sides to him - above all a passion for his natural history collection. This collection from the end of the 19th century is housed in the former Sonne restaurant. Minerals, fossils (some from the former quartz sand pits in Benken), insects, snails, birds, etc., all neatly labeled by hand. All objects are neatly labeled by hand. Part of the "Beetles, butterflies and plants" collection was recently inventoried by the Andelfingen District Cultural Property Protection Office.
