The results of the 2023 company survey show: Winterthur companies continue to be very satisfied with the Winterthur Economic region . Compared to the previous year, price pressure has replaced the shortage of skilled workers as the biggest challenge. This year's focus topic shows that the positioning of the economic region is unclear for many.

The House of Winterthur company survey from August 2022 shows that Almost 90 percent of the companies surveyed are satisfied with Winterthur as a beach location. For the first time in two years, the shortage of skilled workers has replaced the pandemic situation as the biggest challenge in the Winterthur Economic region . The energy shortage is also causing uncertainty. However, the shortage of skilled workers, rising prices and supply chain bottlenecks were significantly more of a concern for companies at the time of the survey in August 2022.

This year's company survey by House of Winterthur shows: The mood in Winterthur is good and Winterthur companies remain satisfied with the location. In addition to the pandemic, companies are concerned about the shortage of skilled workers and the order situation.

Together with the ZHAW School of Management and Law, House of Winterthur reorganized the survey this year. The collaboration with the ZHAW made it possible to conduct the survey anonymously and to analyze and classify the results even more thoroughly. In addition, the company survey was supported by an "Innovation Cheque" from Innosuisse, the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion.

2020 is characterized by new challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Fortunately, more than half of the companies still see their business performance as positive to positive. The biggest challenges are seen as the order situation (55.4%) and price pressure (44.6%). No change is expected in the number of employees by 60 % of respondents.

Over 90 percent of companies are satisfied or very satisfied with Winterthur as a business location. The forecast for the coming course of business is positive. The business climate index has risen to a value of 4.48 (grading scale 1-6) and has thus returned to the level before the franc shock. Companies are still concerned about price pressure, the order situation and the shortage of skilled workers.
