Rhine Falls

Stand high above the largest waterfall in Europe and feel the roar of the water all over your body - you can do this at the northernmost point of the Winterthur region at the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen.

Attractions

Over 15,000 years ago, the Rhine was forced into a new riverbed by ice-age earth movements. The Rhine Falls were formed at the boundary between hard limestone and soft gravel. Over a width of 150 meters, several hundred cubic meters of water thunder down 23 meters per second.

In the middle of it all is a mighty rock. The rock can be reached via a Rhine Falls tour, where you can experience the natural spectacle up close. You can also stand almost in the middle of the waterfall on the platforms built partly over the Rhine.

The castles of Wörth and Laufen can be reached by boat, and there is even a canoe rental service for the more adventurous.

The Rhine Falls Adventure Park is the largest rope park in Switzerland in terms of surface area and offers something for everyone, whether you're an enthusiast or an athlete.

Or how about a visit to Smilestones, the largest indoor miniature world in Switzerland?
