"Kompotoi is growing strongly"
They are increasingly visible at events or in public spaces: Kompotoi toilets. We met co-founder Jojo Casanova-Linder for a brief interview. He reveals how the idea for the company came about and how satisfied Kompotoi is with its location in Winterthur.

Mr. Linder, how did the idea for Kompotoi come about?
The idea of renting out composting toilets in Switzerland came about as part of a further education course on permaculture. I visited a project in India where composting toilets were in operation. I was fascinated by how easily good and valuable soil can be produced from human waste.
What is the difference between the Kompotoi and a chemical toilet such as TOI TOI?
In chemical toilets, the chemicals should ensure that no unpleasant odor is produced in the toilet. The contents of the toilet are then fed into the wastewater treatment plant, where the nutrients have to be filtered out again. Our Kompotois recycle the raw materials in the toilet by composting them so that they can be returned to the soil and thus to the nutrient cycle.
Which markets would Kompotoi like to conquer in the future?
Kompotoi is growing rapidly. More Kompotois will be seen in the future, especially in the public facilities and tourism sectors, but also in the event sector. Kompotoi was also founded in Germany this year. We are definitely interested in offering our products in other countries as well. We already have a partnership system and can therefore quickly enter new markets. We also offer companies with a similar mentality in the same segment to include our product in their range.
How satisfied are you with the Winterthur location?
We are very happy with our choice of location. As a company with a strong focus on logistics, we have direct access to the highway in Töss and are also easily accessible for our employees.
