"Why wander far away when the good is so close"

Emanuel Bosshart has been involved since the beginning: the first Genuss-Wanderung Winterthur took place in fall 2019 - partly on his initiative. He has been an active board member of GastroWinterthurfor around 22 years and ran the Sporrer restaurant in the region with his wife Bettina for a long time until two years ago. His heart beats for gastronomy and nature. The perfect mix to put together the route and hosts for the varied pleasure hikes. The trained chef is keen to show people what our beautiful region has to offer, be it in terms of landscapes, restaurants or wines.

How do you go about planning a new pleasure hike?
First of all, I look for a region in the vicinity of Winterthur. Then I start scouting for exciting, beautiful hiking routes with restaurants or other catering options. I take my wife and dog with me and walk various routes several times to find the best one. It's important to talk to partners such as restaurants, farmers and winegrowers and get them excited about the idea. I get a lot of good tips directly from the local partners - that helps me a lot!

What is the biggest challenge in organizing the pleasure hike?
The route of the pleasure hike should not be longer than 13 kilometers. A maximum gradient is also planned. We have to find restaurants with enough space for all participants - even in bad weather. Good public transport connections are also important. Reconciling all these requirements is the biggest challenge. But so far we have still succeeded.

What are your highlights of the new gourmet hiking route in the wine country?
There are many different culinary and sightseeing highlights on this year's route in May. Friendly restaurants welcome you with special regional products such as crusty sourdough bread, unique wines, refreshing beer and homemade ice cream. The hike also leads along the beautiful Husemersee and from the vineyards you have a view far beyond the wine country. You will come across a variety of stops along the way. Let yourself be surprised!
