A look behind the scenes of location development – with Antonietta Lomoro

As a business development manager, Antonietta Lomoro ensures that Winterthur is marketed externally as a leading business and innovation location. Her days are varied – from meetings with SMEs and network partners to discussions with colleagues and a few cups of tea throughout the day . In this new format, she takes us through one of her working days.

7:00 a.m. – The early bird… brews the coffee!
At this time of day, a morning coffee is urgently needed (before tea). Then Antonietta gets an initial overview of the day's appointments, checks emails, and creates a to-do list for the day. Today we will be visiting a company and attending a networking event, among other things. form

8:30 a.m. – Meeting with the business team
A quick update on ongoing projects, scheduling—who's attending which event—a discussion of the schedule in preparation for an upcoming tech lunch, input for LinkedIn communications, and contributions to the newsletter. Is there a big interview coming up? With whom, and what questions?

10:00 a.m. – Company visit to a Winterthur SME
The CEO has an innovative idea and is looking for support to implement it. Antonietta explains the cantonal funding program and suggests a meeting with an innovation mentor. She can also provide valuable contacts from her network who could be useful for implementing the idea. At the end, they take a photo together to use for a LinkedIn post.

12:00 noon - Business lunch
When Antonietta is not using her lunch break to relax and unwind, she meets up with one of her network contacts, e.g. the Head of Sales at Stadtwerke Winterthur.

1:00 p.m. – Small talk, espresso and exchange
There must also be time for this and it helps with the exchange of knowledge and the fostering of neighborly relations among work and co-working colleagues.

1:30 p.m. – Time to answer some emails… and have a cup of tea
Inquiries must be answered and the text for the LinkedIn post must be written. Concentration and creativity are required.

3:00 PM – Event Planning
The next tech lunch is coming up. Who's in charge of what, who's on what duty? What's the meeting time, and what materials are needed? Antonietta discusses all of this with her colleague and event manager Sabrina.

16:00 - Real estate brokerage
An SME is looking for a new location and has sent in its search criteria. Antonietta sends the overview of all search requests to her real estate network. Win-win for everyone involved: the real estate network stays up to date on what is currently being searched for in Winterthur and the SME receives support in its search.

16:30 o'clock - Off to the networking event
Today is the AGM of the Life Sciences Network of the Canton of Zurich. This year there will be exciting insights in the Gloria Cube of ETH Zurich, followed by an aperitif and the opportunity to exchange ideas and network

18:00 o'clock - closing time - no, not today
It's getting late today, but the networking event was exciting and informative.
