Ernst Nohl is a member of the regional promotional organization ProWeinland and one of the guides on the region's wine hiking trails.
If you ask Ernst Nohl, a guide on the eight wine hiking trails in Zurich's wine country, where the wine is at its best, he answers like a shotgun: "In and out of the bottle". In keeping with his name, Ernst Nohl is a citizen of Laufen-Uhwiesen, the municipality to which Nohl, a small hamlet on the "wrong" side of the Rhine, and the Rhine Falls belong. He spent part of his youth in Klettgau, then his parents moved to the Zurich wine country and at some point, when he was a good thirty years old, he became interested in wine.
The decisive factor was the first fall festival in Benken. He was invited to a wine tasting, attended further training courses and was soon a respected wine lover without a vineyard. "I belong to category 2 of wine lovers", he remarks in passing, "those are the ones who empty the bottles"! And adds with a mischievous laugh, "you don't break a sweat as much". Nohl has already led tours on all eight wine trails. "My favorite is the Stammerberg". Not only does he particularly like it, it also has a lot of history and many stories.
