


Cross-country skiing is a popular winter sport that can also be actively enjoyed in the Winterthur region. What could be better than getting some exercise in the fresh air in the middle of the snow-covered landscape - far away from the hustle and bustle. Whether classic or skating: you will find a variety of cross-country ski trails throughout the Winterthur region for every level.
The most famous and snow-sure cross-country skiing spot in the Zurich Oberland with 5 trails of its own: here you can enjoy 25 km of classic and 19 km of skating trails. The flat Rietliloipe Fischenthal trail in the valley or the Amslen cross-country skiing center, which is also floodlit at night, are particularly suitable for beginners. Advanced skiers can enjoy the Seelisberg trail or the longer panoramic trail with even more beautiful views. For the very sporty, there is the 9 km long hiking trail around the Bachtel when there is enough snow. The ski rental at the Amslen cross-country skiing center offers complete equipment for ambitious skiers, beginners and children.
Thanks to its location at approx. 800 m above sea level above Bäretswil, you have a good chance of being sporty here, far away from the fog. The trail offers a 12 km long scenic network of trails for classic and skating. Beginners and advanced skiers can also enjoy themselves to the full here.
The cross-country ski trail on the Huggenberg east of Schauenberg at 700-800 m above sea level is also open many times in winter. The trail network includes several kilometers of classic and skating trails and operates a night trail during the week. When it has snowed freshly, you can immerse yourself in a dreamlike winter wonderland and enjoy the ride on the forest trail through snow-covered trees.
In the Zurich Oberland, the 6-10 km long Lendikon trail near Weisslingen is prepared for winter sports enthusiasts in good snow conditions. While the short loop towards Neschwil requires a good level of fitness, the long loop leads to a higher level with a wonderful view down to Weisslingen.
In 2021, the Eschenberg cross-country ski trail could reopen for cross-country skiing enthusiasts after a long time. Otherwise, we will have to continue to be patient and wait for enough snow for the 1.8 km trail close to the town.
