5 great winter activities in the Winterthur region

From reindeer trekking to an ice disco and night skiing - winter in and around Winterthur has a lot to offer. Make the coming winter weeks a highlight and enjoy the cold season outdoors in the fresh air.

Reindeer trekking - Zurich wine country

Have you always wanted to get to know Santa's unique helpers better? You have the opportunity to do so on a leisurely walk through the Zurich wine country. The reindeer trekking usually takes place in groups of 6-8 and is suitable for young and old. 17 reindeer live in species-appropriate husbandry on the idyllic farm in Dachsen and are happily waiting for your visit.

Winter hike - Schauenberg

Stomp through the snow with your loved ones and enjoy the wonderful view in the fresh air. You can experience this on the winter hike from Rämismühle-Zell to Elgg! You have to climb a few meters up to the Schauenberg, but at the top you are rewarded with a fantastic view over the Töss Valley, Thurgau and all the way to Lake Constance. The Schauenberg restaurant is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat before heading back down again: a section through the forest, the romantic Farenbachtobel ravine and finally the small Riegelhaus town of Elgg.

Night skiing - Atzmännig

Experience the special night skiing and snowboarding fun on the brightly lit Atzmännig ski slope. In good snow conditions, you can whizz down the slopes here from Wednesday to Friday evening. To round off the evening, there is a cozy fondue party in the Brustenegg hut afterwards. Perfect for an adventurous evening for two or a cheerful get-together with friends!

Ice disco - Deutweg ice rink

The ice rink at the Deutweg ice sports facility is transformed into a disco from October to February. Once a month, you can skate across the ice rink to popular hits and experience skating in a different way. The event hall in Deutweg surprises with modern equipment and the best acoustics for a unique disco experience!

Tobogganing - Bachtel

The Bachtel, the beautiful mountain in the Zurich Oberland, combines sledging fun and a magnificent view in winter. The top of the Bachtel can only be reached on foot in around an hour. However, the walk is well worth it and is rewarded with a speedy toboggan run. The first part of the route leads mainly through the forest and is somewhat steeper, while the second part is flatter and is also suitable for children.
