"Many of our patients were born with us"

As part of the new Smart Health event series, House of Winterthur invites you to visit Privatklinik Lindberg on February 23. In a brief interview, Director Corina Müller-Rohr tells us how private clinics are doing better than public clinics when it comes to digitalization and why Privatklinik Lindberg has particularly loyal patients.

Ms. Müller-Rohr, can you briefly introduce Privatklinik Lindberg? What makes the clinic stand out?
Privatklinik Lindberg is the leading private clinic in the Winterthur region. Around 105 attending physicians and 115 employees offer patients first-class medical care in a personal atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. The main medical specialties include general surgery, dialysis/nephrology, orthopaedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, gynaecology, visceral surgery, urology and spinal surgery. Since 2012, Privatklinik Lindberg has been part of the Swiss Medical Network, which includes a total of 21 clinics and hospitals, 28 medical centers, 9 emergency centers and a network of 16 eye clinics and competence centers. We are particularly proud of our loyal patients. Many of them have close ties with Privatklinik Lindberg. This is not least because many of them were born here and have been happy to come back to us for health problems ever since. This bond is probably part of our USP and strengthens our position in the Winterthur healthcare market.

Is a private clinic better positioned in terms of digitalization than a state-funded clinic?
As a private company, we may be more agile than state-fundedclinics because we have faster decision-making processes. Digitalization is a top priority for every player - regardless of whether they are private or state-run. I think it is the biggest challenge for our industry. There are many different approaches and just as many projects, the electronic patient file is probably the best known. At Swiss Medical Network, digitization has been a major priority for some time now. We develop our own systems and products or invest in platforms such as "Well". As we work with an independent medical profession, which in turn works with different systems, the mapping of all data in a standardized, future-oriented system is a major issue.

On Thursday, February 23, we will be hosting our next Smart Health event at your clinic. What can visitors look forward to?
A stay in hospital is always something special. We will also make this event something special for our visitors, but without them having to slip into a patient gown. We will provide an insight into an exciting day at the hospital, show what sets us apart from public hospitals, explain why we are at home in a beautiful, privileged location above Winterthur and look forward to a stimulating exchange and interesting encounters. As a special treat, we offer our guests the unique opportunity to get hands-on in the operating theater. You can look forward to it!
