"The shopping experience is good for the soul"
As contemplative as the Advent season can be, it is often just as stressful in reality. Between between all the aperitifs and Christmas dinners, presents still have to be bought. Bea Linder, Managing Director of the City-Vereinigung Junge Altstadt, reveals the best time for all those who want to avoid the Christmas rush and shop for presents in peace.

Bea Linder, hardly anyone knows the many stores in Winterthur's old town better than you. Do you have a favorite store where you particularly like to buy Christmas presents?
I don't want to give preference to any of our member stores at this point. I shop where I get good and friendly advice. Especially in stores that are committed to a lively old town.
What would you say to people who prefer to do their Christmas shopping online?
If you only shop online, you miss out on the whole experience: our beautiful Christmas lights, the decorated shop windows, the parcel service, a break with a coffee, tea or mulled wine. It's good for the soul. What's more, the personal selection of gifts is often linked to a story, which may make for an amusing moment at the Christmas party.
What day of the week and when is the best time to buy presents to avoid getting caught up in the Christmas rush?
If you can manage it, it's best to go shopping for presents in the morning. Unfortunately, you miss out on the Christmas lights at this time of day. If you are looking for a shopping experience and want to spend time with friends or family at the same time, you can look forward to the Sunday sales on December 17. In addition to open stores, there will be face painting, concerts and donkey rides in the old town.
