Rates: How much does a private city tour cost?

House of Winterthur tariffs from February 1, 2023

For standard guided tours per group with a maximum of 20 people:

  • Up to 1.5 hours CHF 260
  • CHF 40 for each additional half hour

Strolling and tasting per group with a maximum of 15 people:

  • CHF 300 for management and organization
  • additional CHF 19 per person for culinary snacks

From table to table per group with a maximum of 20 people:

  • From CHF 400 for management and organization
  • additional per person from CHF 56 for food


Miscellaneous costs:

  • Bei kurzfristigen Buchungen (<48 Std.) wird ein Expresszuschlag von CHF 50 verrechnet.
  • For special requests, CHF 50 will be charged per hour of extraordinary work.

Weather: Do the guided tours also take place in bad weather?

Yes, the guided tours take place in all weathers. We therefore recommend dressing appropriately for the weather. Warm clothing is particularly recommended in winter. In the event of rain or cold weather, we will of course seek shelter during the tour if possible.

Weather: Are the guided tours also possible in the dark?

All tours are available until sunset. After sunset, we recommend the following tours: Old Town, Eulach, Stroll and Taste, Frauenthur, Night Watchman, From Table to Table and Christmas Magic.

Booking procedure: What does the booking process look like?

1. request
You will receive an e-mail as soon as we have received your request.

2. processing
The availability of the (various) service(s) is checked. This process may take a few working days. You will then receive a corresponding response.

3. confirmation
After receiving your confirmation, a House of Winterthur tour guide will contact you to discuss the details of the tour.

4. menu selection restaurant (only applies to combined offers with culinary delights)
Your selection is required at least two weeks before the event. For starters and main courses, different dishes can be selected for each course (e.g. five people select option 1 and eight people select option 2).

5. definite number of participants (only applies to combined offers with culinary delights)
The number of people in your group is required at least 4 days before the event.

Payment (if no cash payment)
Invoicing takes place in the month following the tour. You will receive a total invoice for all services.

Provisional request: Can I book a guided tour without the desired date already being fixed?

No. In order to be able to accept a request, we need your desired date for the city tour.

Number of participants: We are one person more/less than booked. Is this a problem?

This is not a problem. A maximum of 20 people are allowed per group (for "Old town with church tower and strolling and tasting" a maximum of 15 people. For "Landmark town church" a maximum of 10 people). If your group unexpectedly exceeds this number, please contact us so that we can organize another tour guide if necessary.

Meeting point: Is the meeting point predetermined?

For private guided tours, you can arrange the meeting point with the tour guide as far as possible. As soon as your request has been confirmed, the tour guide will contact you to discuss the details of the tour.

Meeting point: Should we arrive at the meeting point before the start time?

Yes, gladly 10 minutes in advance. Administrative and organizational questions can be clarified in advance so that the tour can start on time.

Short-term request: Can I book a private tour at short notice?

Yes, with pleasure. We will do our best to find a tour guide for you. For bookings made less than 48 hours before the tour, we charge an express surcharge of CHF 50.

Rebookings/cancellations: Unfortunately I have to postpone or cancel my city tour. What costs can I expect?

In the event of cancellation, the following conditions apply in accordance with our GTCs:

Rebookings/changes by the customer
The first rebooking/change to an order is free of charge (except for combined offers). A processing fee of CHF 40.00 will be charged for each subsequent rebooking/change.

Private group tours
- Non-appearance of the group (no show) 100% of the costs
- Cancellation 0-2 days before the tour 100% of the costs
- Cancellation 3-7 days before the tour 50% of the costs
- After booking completion up to 8 days before the tour flat rate CHF 40.00

Combination offers from table to table and strolling and tasting
- No-show of the group 100% of the costs
- Cancellation 0-2 days before the tour 100% of the costs
- Cancellation 3-7 days before the tour 50% of the costs 5
- After booking up to 8 days before the tour a flat rate of CHF 80.00
- Individual cancellations regarding the number of participants (max. 5 persons) can be considered free of charge up to 4 days before the event.

Children: Are the guided tours also suitable for children?

Children are welcome on the tours. However, the content is primarily designed for adults. The content is adapted accordingly for school classes.

Yes, this is generally possible. In order to make any necessary clarifications, we ask you to inform us about the dog in advance.

The filter selection 'barrier-free' in the offers shows the tours that are accessible for wheelchairs and baby carriages. In order to be able to prepare a suitable route, we ask you to inform us about wheelchair users and baby carriages in advance.

Arrival by car:

Arrival by bus/car:
There are two suitable places in the city center to get on and off the bus:
A) Lagerhausstrasse
B) Liebestrasse

A 24-hour car parking lot is available on Zeughausstrasse.
