The natural paradise of the revitalized Thur floodplains is the perfect excursion destination for every nature lover. The floodplain landscape is characterized by water: When the river rises, it washes over meadows and forests, forming gravel banks and islands. When the water level drops, puddles and pools are left behind. This creates a diverse habitat for countless animal and plant species. Dragonflies, water birds, beavers, newts, frogs and water scorpions can be observed. In addition, 30 different orchid species thrive in the Thurauen and the gentian blooms in the fall.
