Museum of local history (in the Lindengut)
Winterthur's history is brought to life in the Villa Lindengut with its coachman's and gardener's houses. In addition to the historical museum, the magnificent wedding room for Winterthur couples is also located under the roof of the villa.
The Villa Lindengut is nestled in a secluded park not far from the old town. It was built towards the end of the 18th century as one of the first residential buildings outside the gates of Winterthur. Richly decorated panelled ceilings and walls and painted tower stoves from local production make the rooms shine in splendid splendor.
The museum presents themes from Winterthur's history in ever-changing exhibitions. Objects from different eras tell of famous men and forgotten women, of outstanding craftsmen and industries of the past. The rich collection of toys in the former coach house is also particularly attractive.
