Annahstasia (US/NGA)
There are vocals with such intense expression and timbre that uniqueness is almost an understatement and they tie in seamlessly with the great voices of music history.
Annahstasia - visual artist, model and neo-soul and folk singer - has a voice that reminds us of Nina Simone, Janis Joplin and Tracy Chapman in terms of intensity, vulnerability and vocal dynamics. Her debut album Tether will be released in June and we are eagerly awaiting its release. This is her first and only Swiss concert here - and we suspect that we won't be seeing the Nigerian-American artist in such a setting for much longer.
