In the mirror of the Winterthur Cluster Initiative - A visit to Noser Engineering AG

Noser Engineering makes companies fit for the digital age and is one of the most popular employers in Switzerland. To find out more about this success story, Mayor Michael Künzle and location promoter Roger Graber from House of Winterthur visited the new Noser Engineering CEO Remo Noser and COO Daniel Brüngger at their headquarters in Winterthur.

"Local for locals is our motto," Remo Noser reveals to his guests on the tour of the modern offices and explains what he means by this. Trust plays an important role in their projects and trust is built through personal contact. "We attach great importance to being close to our customers, which is why we have also set up branches in Bern, Lucerne, Bad Ragaz and Munich," says Noser. This concept works. The SME has achieved success after success: it was involved in the development of Google's Android cell phone operating system, is a five-time Microsoft Gold Partner for all relevant software development topics and holds the coveted ISO 13485 for medical products. The success is also reflected in the figures. The company employs over 200 engineers and software developers and is part of the Noser Group, which generates over 120 million in turnover per year.

IoT for smart machines, energy and health
Noser Engineering has made a name for itself in Switzerland as a partner for Internet of Things (IoT) projects, among other things. The IoT is one of the latest technology trends. The term Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network of physical objects that use sensors, actuators and software to connect with each other via the internet and exchange data. A typical application would be, for example, when a coffee machine uses a sensor to detect when the supply of beans is running low and immediately orders a refill itself. In this case, Noser Engineering would be the perfect technology partner to teach the coffee machine this new capability. Many well-known companies rely on the expertise of Noser Engineering when developing new products and business models. In keeping with the motto "local for locals", many of them come from the region. During their visit, Daniel Brüngger presents Michael Künzle and Roger Graber with projects that they have developed for the health insurer SWICA, the sensor technology specialist Kistler, the industrial company Sulzer and the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital (KSW). These are all examples that reflect the central sectors of the Winterthur cluster initiative.

Smart Health
Alongside "Smart Machines" and "Smart Energy", the area of "Smart Health" has become increasingly important at Noser in recent years. Many developments such as the electronic patient dossier (EPD), stricter data protection regulations (GDPR), new guidelines for the development of medical devices (MDR) and ever-increasing customer expectations of a digital offering are driving digitalization in the healthcare sectorHere, Noser Engineering creates sustainable, future-oriented solutions that take the industry to the next level.

Popular employer
Remo Noser attributes the success of his company primarily to his employees. For this reason, Noser Engineering invests heavily in the company culture, the team spirit and the individual training of its employees. These efforts are bearing fruit: Noser Engineering has been one of the most popular employers in Switzerland for some time now. On the online evaluation platform Kununu, employees give their company 4.6 out of 5 points, making the company one of the most popular on the entire platform. One employee summarizes Noser's recipe for success as follows: "Brilliant company that knows that happy employees achieve more."

House of Winterthur wishes Noser Engineering continued success and is already planning a joint "Tech Lunch" with Remo Noser and his team.
