Zurich/Winterthur — Orell Füssli Thalia AG is acquiring Papeterie Schoch in Winterthur. With this acquisition, Orell Füssli Thalia is expanding its portfolio in the stationery sector. The Schoch brand will continue to operate under the new ownership, and all employees will be retained.

Basel/Windisch, Aargau/Winterthur — Winduction, Ginto, and Greenlyze are the winners of this year’s Swiss Sustainability Challenge. The special prize for the circular economy, awarded by BaselCircular, goes to Rematter, while the People’s Choice Award goes to Salvage Studio.

Winterthur — The Stadtwerk Winterthur Climate Fund has awarded a total of 110,000 Swiss francs to projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. It is supporting SilvoCultura’s agroforestry system, Heusser EDV’s logistics platform, and EuroTube’s test track in Dübendorf, Canton of Zurich.

Winterthur/Shenyang — Shenyang Yuanda Compressor, a subsidiary of Burckhardt Compression, has received orders for diaphragm compressor units. These are intended for semiconductor manufacturers in Taiwan and Korea. With this, Burckhardt Compression is entering a new market.

Winterthur/Etoy, Vaud — Algorized SA and researchers from the ZHAW School of Engineering have launched a two-year research project. Using artificial intelligence (AI) and various sensor technologies, they aim to detect and predict human movements in the vicinity of robots.

Zurich — The Informatik Tage 2027 will take place in the greater Zurich area from April 5 to 11, 2027. The event is designed to connect companies and organizations with apprentices, students, and professionals. Proposals for programs and support can be submitted through November 27.

Winterthur/Tokyo — WinGD will take over maintenance of the X-DF engines on five liquefied natural gas carriers owned by NYK LNG Shipmanagement Ltd. The marine propulsion specialist has signed a five-year agreement with the Japanese shipping company for this purpose. The five vessels were built between 2022 and 2026.

Winterthur/New Delhi — As part of Guy Parmelin’s state visit to India, cooperation in research has also been strengthened. Zurich/Winterthur — Winduction is setting up a test lab and its own test stop for electric buses in Winterthur. The buses will be retrofitted so that they can be charged at stops via contact between their rear wheels and a ground plate. The system is expected to enable operators to achieve significant cost savings.

Zurich/Winterthur — The Zurich Cantonal Council is proposing to the Cantonal Assembly a grant of 14.5 million Swiss francs for the renovation and modernization of the Technorama in Winterthur. The museum, operated by the Swiss Science Center Technorama Foundation, attracts more than 370,000 visitors annually with its exhibits.

Winterthur – Daniel Lippuner will take over as CEO of Rieter, the textile machinery manufacturer, on November 1st. He succeeds Thomas Oetterli, who will simultaneously step down as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Carl Illi will assume this role until the Annual General Meeting in April 2027.

Winterthur/Ludwigsfelde — Burckhardt Compression will supply two compressors for the gas turbine test facility at MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg. This test facility is being prepared for future operation with natural gas blended with up to 25 percent hydrogen.

Winterthur – The Swiss Photo Foundation is preserving and digitizing approximately 160 photo archives containing 3.5 million items. The “Preservation in Motion” project will run through 2031. Each processed archive will receive a digital showcase featuring 100 photographs that will be accessible online.

Stetten AG - The Exentis Group increased its revenue by 48 percent to just over 25 million Swiss francs in the first half of 2026. Operating income rose disproportionately compared to revenue, reaching 5.2 million Swiss francs. The cooling structures and semiconductors segments were the key drivers of growth.

Zurich/Ostermundingen, Canton of Bern — Kablan AG has installed trackers from the Zurich-based company truvami on its cable drums. This enables the Ostermundingen-based cable and LAN distributor to track the location of its spools digitally and ensure their full reuse.
