A Look Behind the Scenes—with Zoe Stauffiger

Hi, I’m Zoe. I’ve been the new Content and Media Manager at House of Winterthur since July. Almost everything is still new right now—a new team, new tools, new processes—but that’s exactly what makes these first few months so exciting. As part of the Marketing & Communications team, I handle business-related topics and am committed to ensuring that Winterthur, as “ Business location ,” gets the attention it deserves.

A Day in the Life of Zoe

7:30 a.m. – A Quiet Start to the Day
The office is still almost empty when I arrive. I’m used to getting up early, and to be honest, I like those quiet first few minutes before things get going. I set up my workspace, grab some coffee, and then I’m off.

8:30 a.m. – News & Team Update
First, the media roundup: What happened overnight, both globally and in Winterthur. Then, the daily check-in with the marketing team—short and to the point. Where do we stand with production? What’s changed? What do we need to address today?

10:00 a.m. – Insights from the Business World
A different format, a different rhythm: The weekly business meeting is a little highlight for me every week. Here, I hear about what’s currently happening at the business development office, which startups are being launched, and what events are coming up. Much of this information ends up on my feed, on LinkedIn, or in the House Letter.

12:00 p.m. – Refueling during lunch break
Lunch break in Stadtpark, weather permitting. Before that, a quick stop at the Thai food stand on Merkurplatz or at the Coop, depending on my mood.

1:00 p.m. – Planning the street art
Back at my desk with a cup of mate. Today, I’m focusing on bringing the street art mural on Bahnmeisterweg to life. To that end, I’m calling various stakeholders in Winterthur, working on the layout of the information board, and planning interviews and social media posts.

2:00 p.m. – Next topic: AI Festival
After the street art project, we’ll move right on to fine-tuning an interview about the Zurich AI Festival for the House Letter. Have you read it yet? If not, you can find the interview in the August issue of the House Letter —or check out our Stories.

3:00 p.m. – LinkedIn Time
Every week on LinkedIn, we share insights into company visits, projects, and events in Winterthur. Together with Andi from the business team, I decide which topics to cover this week. To do this, I regularly stay in touch with key players in the local scene, such as the marketing director of Startup Nights. This way, I find out early on what’s happening in Winterthur and can bring you the latest updates.

4:00 p.m. – Learning Time to Wrap Up the Day
To wrap up the day, I read up on a topic that’s new to me—currently, city management. Then it’s time to call it a day.
