A look behind the scenes – with Gabriela Neuhaus
Gabriela "Gabi" Neuhaus manages our tourist information office at Winterthur main station. Every day, she ensures that visitors receive expert advice, helpful tips, and everything they need for their stay. Between team coordination, administrative tasks, and working at the counter, no two days are ever the same.
8:45 a.m. – Arrival at the office and team meeting
Gabi cycles to the office – in almost all weather conditions. Together with the team, she coordinates the day and upcoming appointments. She ensures that our tourist information desk at the main train station is staffed at all times and that everyone covers for each other during breaks and external appointments.
9:30 a.m. – Tourist Information opens its doors
While the first customers enter the shop, she checks her personal and general inbox in the background. There is an order for ten Winterthur gift boxes – a popular present in the run-up to Christmas. She will coordinate the processing with the team later.
10:00 a.m. – Annual review
The annual review with an employee is coming up. At the end of each year, she talks to her employees about the highlights and challenges of the past year and looks ahead to the future.

Before lunch, she completes various administrative tasks: revising meeting minutes, checking invoices, responding to email inquiries. Museum passes also need to be reordered. She informs the team about the large gift box order, checks inventory levels, and determines what needs to be reordered. There is sufficient time to prepare the boxes before pickup.
1:00 p.m. – Lunch break
To clear her head, she likes to get some fresh air and see what's going on in the restaurant. Rägeboge has on the menu today.
2:00 p.m. – Visit to the Wisli Foundation Wisli
An employee of the Wisli Foundation Wisli will be available for a to to present the institution and the lovingly crafted products from the sheltered workshop. The team particularly likes the crocheted animals and lavender pillows. The products will be added to the range in the future.
3:30 p.m. – Duty at the counter
She covers for her colleague at the counter until the end of the day. There, she is the point of contact for information about Winterthur and the region, selling concert and theater tickets, gift certificates, and regional gifts from the shop.
5:30 p.m. – Tourist Information closes its doors
After the last customers have left, she tidies away the display stands and wooden boxes. Then it's time to close up for the day: balancing the till, washing the dishes, tidying up, and turning off the lights.
