"Every event on rails is a tailor-made experience"

With Rail Event, even the journey there is an experience: the team around founder and project manager Daniel Wägeli stages customized rail journeys in nostalgic vehicles - from corporate events to weddings. Daniel Wägeli reveals what Winterthur has to do with it in a short interview.

What exactly is behind the Rail Event company?
Daniel Wägeli: We are a rail event agency for tailor-made travel experiences. With our predominantly nostalgic vehicles, we organize trips for company events, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries or even publicized charter trips for individual guests. Our most exclusive product are three beautiful dining cars, which run under the name "Prestige Continental Express" in the style of the Orient Express. Excellent dining during the journey through beautiful landscapes combined with entertainment (e.g. piano player, magician) or other enrichments at a special location makes the event a lasting experience right from the starting point.

What sets you apart from comparable providers?
As an independent, flexible small company, we can respond to individual customer wishes and plan optimally thanks to our broad network. Thanks to our experience outside of "railway-specific topics" such as gastronomy, entertainment options or tourist attractions, we can put together a unique program "in one house". As an independent provider, we also put together the optimum "rolling stock" of our special rail vehicles to meet the customer's needs.

What connection do you have to Winterthur?
Our company was founded in Winterthur and some of our vehicles are also stationed in Winterthur. As a railroad junction, Winterthur offers wonderful, varied routes, such as to Lake Constance, the Rhine Falls, around Lake Zurich or towards Toggenburg, and is ideally suited as the start and end point of a journey. Many of our published charter trips start in Winterthur.
