(With) Each Other – Nhu Xuan Hua and the Collection of the Fotomuseum Winterthur

With the second edition of *(Mit)einander*, the Fotomuseum Winterthur continues the dialogue between its collection and contemporary artists. French-Vietnamese photographer Nhu Xuan Hua (*1989*) engages in a dialogue with works from the museum’s collection.

Hua lives in Paris and works between Paris and London for international fashion houses such as Dior, Maison Margiela, Kenzo, and Gucci, as well as for magazines such as *Vogue*, *TIME*, and *Dazed Beauty*. Her multidisciplinary practice explores the construction of memory, the sense of rootlessness, and the legacy of the diaspora. Her first publication, *Tropism, Consequences of a Displaced Memory* (Area Books), is based on family archives. She explores the interplay of memory, time, and digital transformation, and examines how memories, emotions, and traumas are both passed down and lost. Moving between narrative and conceptual visual language, expanded through mixed media, Hua creates surreal, dreamlike images that open up the imagination and counteract the process of forgetting.

Works by Richard Avedon, Nobuyoshi Araki, Alan Belcher, Balthasar Burkhard, JH Engström, Ralph Gibson, Nan Goldin, Andreas Gursky, Rinko Kawauchi, Duane Michals, Aldo Sessa, and Rolf Winnewisser from the collection of the Fotomuseum Winterthur are on display.
