Winterthur Puppet Theater
In the heart of the Old Town, between October and May, you’ll find a special place of inspiration. At the Winterthur Puppet Theater, artists stage exciting, sometimes funny, but also tragic plays using puppets they have mostly crafted themselves.
The Winterthur Puppet Theater is currently undergoing renovations; it is scheduled to reopen in January 2027.
For over 50 years, the Figurentheater Winterthur has been offering entertaining and moving puppet and object theater performances for both children and adults in the heart of the old town. Around 80 performances are staged between the end of September and the beginning of May.
In addition to in-house productions by the theater's own ensemble, there are mainly guest performances. Stages from Germany and abroad are given a platform here for their traditional, classical and experimental puppet and object theater. The productions for adults and young people are a special experience. Internationally renowned puppeteers regularly perform their latest plays on the small but exquisite stage. Many children in Winterthur come into contact with the world of theater for the first time when they attend a performance.
