Three Lives

A comedy by Yasmina Reza for ages 14 and up.

Three times, Henri and Sonja look forward to a quiet evening. Three times, the Finidoris show up at the door. Three times, the evening goes completely off the rails for a different reason. Three times, we watch with great amusement as the director leads us up the garden path with his energetic ensemble.

We often wonder whether events in our lives could have unfolded differently and whether we might have chosen a different path if we’d had the choice. In her brilliant comedy, the French playwright presents three versions of the same disastrous evening for two couples in midlife. An apple instead of a cookie! With this compromise, Sonja and Henri try to keep their wailing child under control after evening toothbrushing and get a little peace after work. But before peace can settle in, the doorbell rings. Ines and Hubert Finidori, Henri’s boss and his wife, show up unexpectedly a day early. What a disaster! The fridge is empty, and they’ve already settled in comfortably in their loungewear! With a little improvisation and as much alcohol as possible, the evening might still be salvaged.

For everyone aged 14 and over.
