“The album takes a very critical view of people—no matter who they are,” says Baxter Dury about his ninth studio album, *Allbarone*. The album was produced by Paul Epworth, who has previously worked with Adele and Florence & The Machine. Together, they stripped everything down to the essentials and created the British artist’s most direct yet futuristic work to date.

“I don’t want to say the sound is contemporary,” Baxter Dury sums up, “because I sound like an asshole when I use that word. But it really does sound very contemporary. So it doesn’t sound like it was produced by some prim-and-proper, stuffy band. Actually, it doesn’t sound like it was made by a band at all. And that’s exactly what I wanted most. It’s just something completely new for me. Pretty exciting, to be honest.”
