Street art enters its second round: Effi Bannister's "Velostadt Winterthur" now adorns the wall on Bahnmeisterweg near the Sulzerareal site
Winterthur artist Effi Bannister has won the second competition for the House of Winterthur street art project. With her artwork on the wall on Bahnmeisterweg on the Sulzer site, she brings viewers closer to her "Bicycle City Winterthur". Effi Bannister's work replaces Basil Girard's "Green Winterthur" from the previous year.
From the train or while walking through the Sulzer area - the two by eleven meter wall on Bahnmeisterweg is prominently visible. This week, Winterthur artist Effi Bannister is at work redesigning the wall on the theme of "Winterthur as a cycling city". This is because she has won this year's street art competition organized by House of Winterthur. Using "pattern art", she creates complex patterns from simple basic shapes that reflect her personal experience of cycling through Winterthur in an abstract way. "My love for Winterthur is also my love for bicycles," says this year's winner. Using brushes, rollers, compasses, stamps and stencils, the Winterthur resident is currently giving the wall a new face, which will be on display for a year.
