House of Winterthur Launches First Robot-Guided City Tour
Digitalization is also making its way into House of Winterthur’s city tours. A pilot phase will begin in the middle of the year, during which a robot will lead a tour of the Old Town for the first time. With this trial run, House of Winterthur aims to determine whether robot-assisted tours could complement its existing offerings in the future.
Demand for city tours has remained consistently high for years. Last year, nearly 9,500 people took a city tour in Winterthur. At the same time, technological progress is becoming increasingly relevant for tourism. As an innovative city, Winterthur is now taking the next step: a robot will guide visitors through the Old Town in the future. The prototype is currently in the final stages of development. Starting in mid-2026, it will be used publicly for the first time during a pilot phase lasting several months. The existing Old Town tour will serve as the basis for this.
