Film and music: Les Choristes

Film by Christophe Barratier with live orchestra for everyone aged 10 and over.

It has been a good twenty years since a French film enchanted the whole world. "Les Choristes" ("The Children of Monsieur Mathieu") and its now world-famous song "Vois sur ton chemin" has long since become engrained in everyone's ears.

France shortly after the Second World War: unemployed musician Clément Mathieu gets a job as an educator at a boarding school for boys with special educational needs. Affected by the harshness of everyday school life, he begins to intervene in the pupils' lives with the magic of music. After some initial difficulties, the empathetic teacher manages the small miracle of gaining the trust of his charges.

Just as choral singing brings light and hope to the strict boys' boarding school in the movie, the 2004 film still warms the hearts of audiences today. Bruno Coulais' music is of course indispensable in the portrayal of nuances, emotions and fairy-tale twists and turns, which unfolds even more beautifully on stage with a live orchestra and youth choirs than on the screen.

For everyone aged 10 and over.
