Altan and Buíoch represent two different generations of Irish folk on stage. Both provide the depth, liveliness and magic of traditional Irish music.
Altan is one of the most important Irish folk bands of recent decades. Founded in the 80s, the quintet around singer and fiddler Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh stands for a musical culture that is as wild and beautiful as the nature of their native Donegal. With a voice as clear as a bell, furious dance pieces and ballads deeply rooted in Gaelic tradition, the band has not only made a name for itself internationally - it has even been honored with its own Irish stamp. A monument to Irish culture!
The evening will be opened by Buíoch - a young band from the heart of the Emerald Isle, who will delight you with their original compositions, fresh arrangements and exuberant enthusiasm. Named after the Irish word for "gratitude", the quartet combines handmade tradition with a powerful present. The music is direct and warm-hearted - and a tribute to what Irish song is all about: togetherness and joie de vivre.
